2024-09-12 18:52:09 GMT seasonde visited site to troubleshoot reflected power fluctuations. Found reflected power to not be from transmit line after wiggling transmit connector at base of TX antenna and finding no change. While disassembling the TX antenna, found water in an upper barrel screw. Due to uneven threads, could not spin off tuning coil from lower half. Top whip was removed normally and ground plain radials were disconnected. Had to use sawzall and angle grinder to remove tuning coil from bass of TX antenna. Removed tuning coil and found uneven threads. Tried to file them down to get new tuning coil to spin on to no avail. Bringing lower TX mast back to Rutgers for time being. Leaving Top whip and transmit cable taped up at site. Will return soon. Handel and Stellar 2024-09-16 14:58:12 GMT seasonde Shut transmitter OFF using WPS due to reflected power, will inatalll replacement antenna this week. Handel 2024-09-17 17:22:57 GMT seasonde visited site to install new lower mast of TX antenna after removing on 9/12/24. Installed new lower mast and forward and reflected power looks good ~45W forward and ~1.8W reflected. VSWR ~1.5:1. Reinstalled old top whip since it looked to be in good shape. Connector to TX antenna looked to be in alright shape, wiggling it did not affect reflected power. Reattached ground plane radials to new antenna. Handel & Stolarz
