Opened Outage Report
high reflected power
Status switched to 'In Progress'
replaced damaged end of transmit cable, there is a power outage on the island now, a power pole fell into the marsh on Feb 7 and it may take several days for the power company to restore service
Major cost for power company to repair broken line and all power poles going out to island are old so the company is considering its options. Power will take weeks (at least) to restore and it may not be the same type of conventional power.
The property owners and power company could not agree on a solution so grid power is no longer available on the island. All of the equipment has been removed from the site except for receive cables, a buried section of rx mast, and the tx base. This site might be re-established, but only if we can find funds to set up a solar power solution.
Site is operational again using solar power!

2021-12-10 22:34 GMT rwsadmin (TGU) using CEDR computer to test equipment, turned scheduled computer restart off and stopped recording range and spectra in SeaSonde Acquisition
2020-03-13 16:56 GMT rwsadmin (TGU) added radial metric license key
2020-03-13 16:55 GMT rwsadmin (TGU SF) used generator to test equipment, with attenuation of 5dB, transmit power forward is 40-43 watts and reflected 10-11 watts, vswr around 3 but it is working and have Bragg on all channels, arranged 8 ground plane wires in new pattern spaced evenly around the base and secured with landscaping stakes
2020-02-02 21:35 GMT rwsadmin (TGU) transmit has been turned off since we left the site on Friday, need to troubleshoot high reflected power issue, turned off radial processing
2020-01-31 15:58 GMT rwsadmin (TGU, MB, AC, SF, Ed) transmit antenna platform install, drone antenna pattern measurement
2022-03-21 18:34 UTC rwsadmin (TGU MB SF LS) put up the transmit and receive antennas, tested system with VIMS Honda eu2000i portable generator
2022-03-21 18:40 UTC rwsadmin (TGU) do not use data collected on Mar 21, testing settings and configs on this day, measured the antenna bearing 91 degrees magnetic, installed receive antenna next to original post, installed transmit antenna on the platform, critters had chewed on antenna end of transmit cable, taped over that section of cable but will need to cut it off later and attach new connector, measured resistances at back of receiver, loop1 had reading of 2930 ohms and loop2 was 3035 ohms
2022-03-21 18:41 UTC rwsadmin (TGU) ran equipment using power strip with surge protector instead of through UPS and web power switch
2022-03-22 17:58 UTC rwsadmin (TGU) Online meeting with Trip, Dale and Chad. We changed settings at ODU and UNC stations for the wind turbine interference mitigation project. Installed SpectraAverager version 1.5 on CEDR. Updated SpectraAverager plist to include a Spectra Section with Cut Dopplers field set to 4. This clips spectra so it can be processed to radials. Set frequency to 4.537183, blanking to 972 and turned off Doppler Interpolation. Initially set alignment to 5000 but later set to 16815. Lots of noise on monopole channel, much more noise than on the loop channels. I turned off Eco mode on the generator and this seemed to help. I checked resistance on the monopole receive cable. It wasnt open but it was a high resistance of 3.5 Megaohms.
2022-03-22 18:07 UTC rwsadmin (TGU) set to record 128 cells, but then switched back to 64 cells once we got final alignment value set at LISL at 16:53 UTC
2022-03-22 18:07:00 UTC rwsadmin (TGU) 64 range cells
2022-03-22 18:08:00 UTC rwsadmin (TGU) Recording time series for this test.
2025-03-05 00:00:00 UTC purchase order submitted for solar power system
2025-04-10 00:00:00 UTC travel to CEDR with RECORE contractors (Jonathan Thompson, Jason (solar expertise) and Franco (lead for install/construction) and Josh Priest of Folly Creek Corp.
2025-05-14 00:00:00 UTC (TGU, Dan, Natalie) delivered equipment to the island
2025-05-15 00:00:00 UTC (TGU, Dan, Natalie, Joe, solar contractors) started installation of solar power system, installed receive antenna (#2023634 dome #562) with wooden platform and new receiver cables, a bird nest with eggs next to antenna platform prevented us from installing the transmit antenna
2025-05-16 00:00:00 UTC (TGU, solar contractors) continued install of solar power system
2025-06-03 21:35:48 UTC SeaSonde Radial Suite R24 Installed
2025-07-30 00:00:00 UTC (TGU, Marufa, solar contractor and surveyor) Prepped transmit antenna platform for new antenna and added eyebolts for gin pole while survey was conducted for the solar power permit
2025-09-23 00:00:00 UTC elevation certificate received from the surveyor and sent on to the county permit office
2025-10-06 00:00:00 UTC solar permit approved
2025-10-22 00:00:00 UTC (TGU, MB, SF) installed transmit antenna 24-0239 model V4328, rotated receive antenna to 105 degrees magnetic, receiver cables were broken in the recent storms, but we were able to recover all of the conduit
2025-11-14 20:26:33 UTC rwsadmin (TGU) re-establishing station operation with solar power!,installed new Mac Mini computer (M2 chip, OS 15.5, serial RW62JFH0CM) and new Garmin GPS antenna
2025-11-15 00:00:00 UTC (TGU) set the antenna angle to 105 magnetic, confirmed that the GPS position for receive antenna is correct based on waypoint measured yesterday, checked other settings, not as many range files as expected, spectra is not being averaged from CSQ to CSS, found that number of Doppler bins was set to 4096 somehow, changed this to 1024, took the range and CSQ with incorrect settings out of the Data folders, now getting CSS files, GPS is not seeing many satellites, will reposition antenna on the next trip
2025-11-20 14:38:27 GMT rwsadmin (TGU) set phases to -153, 137 and reprocessed data from Nov 15
